I understand that Muslim men may have up to 4 wives...

I also understand that at the time of the prophet many men had more than 4 wives so the prophet limited the number to improve the situation for women. This sounds like Islam was born in a specific historical context. If Islam and the Quran come from a specific historical context how can the same Islam work "universally" om all different cultures and all countries?

In Islam and in the Holy Qura'n there are a common roles which suits every place and every era and if some Muslims don't apply the roles or put their own, that doesn't mean that these principle is not suitable any more, and having more than one wife is NOT one of the roles today or in the era of the prophet Mohammad (PBUH).Actually it is EXTREMELY difficult to have more than one wife in Islam because Allah asks men for equality and it is hard condition to achieve.

  2. hello every one ,
in addition to what somiah said .
that thing exactly show how is ISLAM genral for all humankind .
what i mean is : some men need one woman .
another men maybe need more than one woman for any reason .
and that is happened in our life .
the man have 2 choice for this ,
he can get one wife and alot of secrets girl friend .
or maybe get more than 1 wife , but he is responsible about all his wifes , and get them all duty , and respect them ...
that why ISLAM get man this right , to solve ahuman being problem not only ARAB problems .

  4. Islam is a universal message that is valid for all human beings. For all time and place. But at the moment of default caused by Muslims and no Islam. The origin of Islam that man can marry only one woman. These are the teachings of Islam. But there are a few special cases where it is allowed for a man to marry more than one. Such that the wife is sick and will not heal and the man needs to have children and he does not want to leave his wife or divorce. And in times of war there were a large number of widows that are not able to be independent but these special cases are governed by extremely difficult conditions, for example, the man couldn't marry again unless the marriage is approved by his first wife. And another difficult condition, the husband must be equal in his treatment of his two wives, and many wives like these conditions. But we must know that Islam is not just 4 wives, Islam is socially, politically and morally integrated.

  6. No problem in polygamy Polygamy is not obligatory but it is permissible for special circumstances such as a woman to be sick or do not like the sexual relationship or not have children or sexual desires that the man is not enough strong woman and one
Which is better to have a man 4 wives and this for special cases?
Or have friends in a forbidden relationship as it happens in the Christian West?
