  1. Of course not, Islam gives woman complete freedom for choice every thing. For example Islam gives woman freedom for choice her husband the man who is complete life with him. In Hadith the prophet Muhammad advice us when we deal with woman by says" carefully when you speak or dealing with women" he says" Refkan belkawarer" what I mean by Elkawarer meaning glasses or easy to broken

  2. Of course not, our Islam gives the women the dignity after the darkness that women was before Islam. Compare everything the women before Islam was inherited like money but after Islam the inheritance of women was prevented .In addition,Islam gives all rights to women just like men. Look to our prophet when he said the women are sisters of men that is mean they are equal with men in everything. Look to our prophet when one of his companion asked him to tell him who the neareset one to his heart is considered to be ,our prophet answered "my wife is the nearest one to my heart". So for many reasons Islam raised the women not oppresed them.

  3. There is not religion as Islam respect women and gives her all her rights , I FOCUS ONLY ON HER NAME , she is named by her father after she got married , but in other religion she is named by her husband as Helary Cilonton , in addition to her special financial rights .

  4. I believe that Islam improved the situation for women very much compared to the time before the prophet. Do you think comparing the way women are treated now to the way women were treated before Islam is the right comparison? Why not compare the way women are treated in Egypt to the way women are treated in other countries in the world today?
Do you think the teachings of Islam are followed completely in Egypt today regarding the treatment of women? Which teachings are not followed by most men?

you wrote that Islam gives all rights to women.
    I read:
In Hadith literature several of the women in the first Islamic community were ardent feminists. One of them, Nusaiba, who actually took part in Muhammad’s battles, asked the Prophet why, in the Quranic utterances, Allah always addressed himself to men rather than women. According to the story God himself recognized the justice of her complaint, and henceforth the revelations were addressed to the faithful of both sexes.
Does this mean that before Nusaiba's question God had never thought of addressing women too? Why not? Did God just forget women?

  6. Some other things about Islam that do not seem like men and women are equals:

Allah gives to women only half the inheritance of their brothers.
In cases where a male witness to a business transaction is unavailable, two female witnesses may be substituted. Why do two female witness equal one male? Does 2 equal 1?

Is male economic dominance sanctioned by God?

In Islam, menstruating women are impure and polluted. Does this mean that menstruating women should be ashamed of being women? Calling women impure or polluted because of a natural and unavoidable bodily function seems like very clear oppression to me.

    What do you think?

  7. I also read:
He [i.e. the Prophet] went out on the day of the victims and Bairam [i.e., the ‘Id al-Adha’] to the place of prayer and passing some women he said: ‘O company of women, give alms, for I have seen that many of you will be inhabitants of hell. ‘Why?’ said they. Replied he: ‘Because you curse much and deny the kindness of husbands. I have not seen – despite your deficiency in intelligence and religion – any sharper than you in captivating the mind of the resolute.’ They said: ‘What is the defect in our religion and intelligence?’ He answered: ‘Is not the witness of a woman equal to half the witness of a man? This is the defect in her intelligence. And when she is ceremonially impure [i.e. menstruating], she neither prays nor fasts. This is the defect in her religion.’

Are women born defective in Islam?

  8. I read;
The prophet saw a woman. He hurried to his house and had intercourse with his wife Zainab, then left the house and said: ‘When the woman comes towards you, it is Satan who is approaching you. When one of you sees a woman and is attracted to her, he should hurry to his wife. With her it would be the same as with the other one.’
Does this mean attractive women are Satan? Do you think this reduces women to sex objects? What about self-control? Do men have any responsibility to control themselves?

  9. I know an Egyptian married woman who wants to go out with her female friends in Cairo but her husband says she is not allowed to go. Do you think this is oppression?

I know an Egyptian woman who wants to travel to professional development conferences but her husband will not let her go. Do you think this is oppression?

I know an Egyptian woman whose father will not let her live alone in an apartment in Cairo. Do you think this is oppression?

I know many Egyptian women that are scared of traveling alone at night because they are afraid of men sexually harassing them on the streets. Do you think this is a sign of a society where women are oppressed?

I also know many women who believe that if women are sexually harassed it is their fault because of the way they dress or the way they walk. Do you think empowered (opposite of oppressed) women speak this way?

  10. Benjamin, your information is interesting but it seems to have brought comments from others to a stand-still. Perhaps this site is most effective when we speak from our hearts and personal experience.

  14. No,Islam not oppresses woman, I disagree with this, where Islm give the woman all her rights and her respct. The woman engoy with large freedom in Islam where to her choice freedom in more things. The prophet Muhammed(Pece be open him)recomment by woman until before his death.
The woman has freedom at many things in Islam. she can choice her education, her husband, her decission that connect with her life.

There is no doubt that Islam did not oppress women, but given all the rights and it is natural to keep Islam on women in particular that there are some precautions out of fear from people bad in society, and therefore enjoined not to travel alone to any country abroad, and if necessary to travel with her husband or her father or her brother or cousin or uncle

Who does not understand the teachings of Islam and arguments believed that Islam women's oppression For example, some people think that Islam is favored men over women when it gave the woman half the share of men in inheritance, but you should know that women take more than the men in other matters of inheritance, and moreover The man must be spent on it, and obliged to participate in household expenses

  18. Do you think that Islam oppresses women?
Of course no, who is create Islam? Allah! and who creat teaching of Islam? Allah! so that I have two parts in this subject, the FIRST, Islam gives women all her rights, and respect her, order her with what keeps her in security, and forbid her from what cause problems for her. the SECOND part, Iam as a women have belief that every command or forbids in Islam is right,ASK ME WHY? because when i do some thing forbidden in Islam i find his bad result at the same time, and when i obey the teaching of Islam i find the life is very comfortable and i feel with happiness all the time.

  19. How accuse Westerners of Islam oppress women, and horrible differentiate between male and female؟
look at my dear to this verse
    195. And their Lord hath accepted of them, and answered them: "Never will I suffer to be lost the work of any of you, be he male or female: Ye are members, one of another: Those who have left their homes, or been driven out therefrom, or suffered harm in My Cause, or fought or been slain,- verily, I will blot out from them their iniquities, and admit them into Gardens with rivers flowing beneath;- A reward from the presence of Allah, and from His presence is the best of rewards."Surah 3. The Family Of 'Imran, The House Of 'Imran

  20. There is a Surah in the Qur'an, called Sura women, and there is no name Surat Al-men, it is sufficient to think in the first verse in this Surah only, so you know the fact that equality between men and women in Islam
    Surah 4. Women

    1. O mankind! reverence your Guardian-Lord, who created you from a single person, created, of like nature, His mate, and from them twain scattered (like seeds) countless men and women;- reverence Allah, through whom ye demand your mutual (rights), and (reverence) the wombs (That bore you): for Allah ever watches over you.

  21. Islam improved the situation for women very much compared to the time before the prophet. But when we compare the way women are treated in Egypt to the way women are treated in other countries in the world today? We will find that a lot of other countries are better than Egypt but the question was “Do you think that Islam oppresses women? Why?” so the answer will be no, because all what said in the previous comments, regardless that the teachings of Islam in treating women are not followed by most men in Egypt. Allah will Held accountable every person who not apply what Allah said.
